Brian Mogford

I was born and  bred in the small north Somerset village of Pensford. (the birthplace and  home of ‘Acker Bilk’. my first claim to fame was regularly doing the gardening at Acker’s house when I was a boy). I grew up in a happy Christian family where I learned to know about the Christian Faith at a early age. When I was 9 years old I decided that I wanted Jesus ,as my personal Saviour and committed my life to him, and have tried to follow him throughout my life. When I left school I took an apprenticeship in carpets and  flooring with a Bristol furnishing company, and have been in this trade for the last 49 years. 25 years ago I started my own contract carpet and  flooring company. I have seen many changes during this time with many satisfying and desperate events taking place, with only my Faith and the support of my family to keep me going. We now have almost 40 people working for us, supplying and fitting carpets, flooring and  fabrics to Stately Homes, Concert Halls, Theatres, Hospitals, Colleges, Cathedrals and over 2000 Churches throughout the U.K. and Europe. My greatest joy in business has been to have been instrumental in providing design and furnishings to so many Places of Worship and helping create a ambience to bring people close to God. Even more leading people I have worked with to know Christ for  themselves. My Christian service really began when I joined the Salvation Army as a teenager, working with children, young people, singing in the Choir, playing in the Brass Band, local leadership and witnessing in the open air. It was whilst I was a very young man in the Salvation Army in Bedminster Bristol, I met and fell in love with my wife of the last 44 years ,Janet. We eventually got married, have 3 amazing children and 6 wonderful grand children. Throughout my life I have felt immensely blessed of God, and even though we have had some very difficult times, I have felt His presence continually with me guiding me in all I have done. In fact, Janet and I really believe God has led us here to Lynton, and to this unique special Church. We know he is wanting us to be part of this growing fellowship, to make a difference in people’s lives and to get to know Him better.
