FAVOURITE RECIPESApple Dessert Cake
150g Melted margarine
2 Large eggs
225g Caster sugar
1 tsp Almond essence
1 tsp Baking powder
225g Self raising flour – sifted
335g Granny Smith apples – peeled, cored and sliced.
25g Flaked almonds
25g Demerara sugar
Loose bottom 20cm cake tin, greased and lined.
Preheated oven Gas 3, l60 deg. C
Mix margarine, caster sugar, eggs, almond essence, baking powder and a little milk if required to make a soft mixture.
Spread half into the prepared tin.
Place the sliced apples over the base mixture. Dot remaining mixture over the top of the apples.
Sprinkle over the flaked almonds and Demerara sugar.
Bake for approximately 1 hour until a cake skewer inserted in the centre comes our clean.
