JUNIOR CHURCH NEWS

Our junior church is growing and this has been helped by joining forces with St Mary's. Pat Woods and I lead junior church in both churches. This means our Sunday mornings are very busy. We start at 10.00 am at St Marys and then have to dash to our church for 11.00am.  This is not ideal but does have the advantage of enabling us to have more time on one aspect of God's work.   Between the two churches we have approximately ten children.  The numbers attending vary according to when the children are available.  Hannah and Sophie are sisters who are now abroad on holiday for four weeks so we have fewer children at present.

We very much enjoy our work with them but we constantly need new ideas and this does involve spending money on resources that are needed to enable the craftwork.  Because of this I will be placing a box in the church for those who wish to contribute financially towards junior church but don't feel pressurised because we know times are difficult at present.  Also you may come up with ideas of your own which could be placed in the box otherwise speak to either Pat Woods or myself.

We continue to use the Roots magazine for ideas and also manage to come with some ideas of our own which I hope are inspired by God. Last Sunday the children gave out heart cakes to the church to remind them of God's love. We try to emphasise God's love to them and many sessions have focussed on this.  We try to get them to think how they can show God's love to others, which as we all know is not always easy if others annoy us!  We use music and crafts to get the message to them.

Eileen, Wendy and Janet have helped out when either Pat or myself is not available and for that we thank them.  If anyone else is interested in helping then please let me know.  All you need is a sense of humour and adaptability!

Thank you everyone for your prayers and support.  Thank you also for the love and acceptance you show to these young people.  They feel your acceptance and therefore are comfortable in church. That is a major part of children coming to know the Lord.
